ESR Lithium Battery BMS Reset Charger (24vdc non-smart type)

This charger is used to bring LiFePO4 and LiPO lithium battery packs back above 21vdc to reset the battery cell protection (BMS circuits in the control board and in LiFePO4 batteries) in on ESR models.  Once the battery charge is above 21 volts, the BMS circuits will reset and finish charging should be completed using the onboard charger for LiFePO4 and the stock balancing charger for LiPO.

Do not short the charger leads!

Mind the battery polarity, red for positive, black for negative.  Disconnect the OEM charger cord.  Access to the battery terminals on LiFePO4 units can usually be accomplished through the ends of the shrink tubing, either with the clips or with a clip attached to a conductive probe.*  Charge time will vary depending on the existing battery charge level below the 21vdc.  If the BMS has recently shut down (20.08vdc) the charge to 21vdc time may be in the neighborhood of 15 minutes.  Be sure to disconnect the reset charger before plugging in the stock charger.

*  Note that an adapter can be used on later ESR versions that have the DOT access connection (sold separately).  This would be on LiFePO4 battery models and could be located either with the motor power wire bundle or a mini plug behind a door on the opposite side of the battery pan from the 120vac onboard charger connection port.

Note:  Batteries do have a lifespan.  This charger will only allow good batteries to be recharged and will not work on bad batteries.
